This article explains the sign-on tool Clever and how it is used by HSE Schools.
📘 What is it?
Clever is a SSO (Single Sign-On) tool used by HSE Schools to help simplify signing into multiple online software platforms.
Single Sign-On does not mean you will only have to ever sign in one time--it means that one method of signing in online can be used for multiple services.
The goal is that you do not need to have separate accounts to sign into, for example, Scholastic products, Kahoot, Xtra Math, BrainPOP, and others. These can all use one method of signing in.
📘 How does it work?
Clever can be accessed either at clever.com or by using the Clever app (available for mobile devices like iPads). The app simply directs to the clever website for authentication.
Signing in with Clever begins with selecting your school. In this case you may choose any of our HSE schools--they all take you to the same sign-in screen.
You will choose ‘Log in with Active Directory,’ which refers to the Microsoft-based account system used in HSE Schools.
The following screens will ask for your student or staff full email address, and then password. This should be the standard student or staff-issued HSE account used for accessing email, Microsoft Office, and most other platforms used by our school system.
Any resources that have been made available to the student or staff member will now be available and visible on the Clever homepage. If you do not see a specific resource that you expect to be available, please contact Jeff Harrison (jharrison@hse.k12.in.us), who handles Clever administration.
