Using the HSE-GUEST Wi-Fi network

This article explains the correct usage for the HSE-GUEST Wi-Fi network and how to connect to it.

Who should use HSE-GUEST to access the internet?

This network should only be used by visitors to HSE school buildings, who do not have access to a regular HSE account and will be onsite for brief periods at a time.

The HSE-GUEST network should NOT be used by students and staff during normal circumstances. It is limited in many aspects, and will not permit access to internal resources like Skyward, for example. In addition, it can cause future connectivity problems even when student and staff use other, recommended Wi-Fi networks.

 How does it work?

The HSE-GUEST network requires that someone with an active HSE account can ‘sponsor,' or grant access to the guest.

  1. When the visitor connects to the HSE-GUEST network, there is no password.

  2. They will be asked to input the email address of the HSE staff member who will be granting access.

  3. This HSE staff member will receive an email momentarily, asking to confirm that they would like to grant the visitor access to the Wi-Fi.

  4. Once access is confirmed by the HSE staff member, the visitor will be notified that their connection to the internet is now active, and the expiration date and time.

The HSE-GUEST network will not permit access to any internal HSE Schools resources, and a default level of internet filtering will be applied.
