Working with PDFs
Many documents come in the PDF file format. Often times teachers and staff may need to edit or work with these files but are unfamiliar with what tools should be used. Below is a quick guide to the tools you have available to you:
Users should never be downloading random tools from the internet to work with PDFs!
For reading PDF files, Edge is the default PDF viewer for Win 10/11 and is built-in. We also have Adobe Acrobat Reader in the kiosk just in case an advanced PDF file won’t render properly in Edge.
For annotating PDF files, you can annotate using Onenote or use the Onedrive app on iOS.
For “printing” a document as a PDF, sometimes users think they need Acrobat Pro. However this functionality is actually built into Windows these days.
For editing PDF files, you can use Microsoft Word to open PDFs as an editable word document.
Finally if all else fails and you truly need Acrobat Pro, you can request it from Software Center and work with your building tech to get it installed.
