This guide will help you clear the ‘Force Quit Applications’ notification. Your system will receive this notification when your system has run out of application memory.

MacOS application memory issue is generally resolved quickly by restarting your MacBook. If your system has been running for >4 days, memory will continue to build onto listed applications (days are displayed within taskbar).

 Best Practices

If you restart your computer and receive the ‘Force Quit Applications’ notification again within 4 days, here are some best practices:

  • Delete applications you to not use:

    • Some users only use one web browser vs. another (e.g. Google Vs. Microsoft Edge).

      • Some applications must remain on your system (e.g. Santa).

        • If you try to delete an enforced application, it will not disappear.

  • Shut down your system often when not in use.

  • Review your ‘Activity Monitor’ to get an overall picture of processes running:

    • Launchpad search ‘Activity Monitor’.

    • Click on ‘Memory’ tab.

If you need further assistance, please feel free to put in an Incident IQ ticket.
