What is Santa?

Santa is a background application on your macOS device that grants authorization for running scripts and applications. As part of HSE's ongoing efforts to enhance security against cyber threats, Santa has been deployed to all Macs owned by the district. You can verify Santa's presence by checking for the logo below in the Launchpad on your Mac device.

Why did I receive a block notification?

Santa blocks all applications and scripts from running unless they are explicitly allowed by the HSE Technology Department. Applications that are installed during device setup, from Managed Software Center, or applications in HSE's Approved Software List are automatically authorized to run on any HSE Mac.

How can I unblock an application?

If you would like to request an application to be unblocked, or have any questions about why an application was blocked, staff may submit a ticket here: Incident IQ . For students, please visit the tech office in the media center.
